Artistic
Performance Team Structure |
The
Rocky Mountain School of Dance Artistic Performance Team
(APT) is designed for gifted, talented, and driven dancers.
Compared to a recreational student, APT dancers train 3 –
5 times more per week to achieve higher levels of ability.
There are four different
levels of training in the APT program:
Mini Star Dancers
Mini Stars (3-5 years) train twice per week with optional
classes available. Mini
Stars train in ballet, lyrical, tap and jazz. The Mini Star
dancers learn their competition routines during their class
times. The Mini Stars perform three routines at competition
with an optional fourth (production piece).
Silver
Dancers
Silver
students (5-7 years) train five days per week. Dancers in
this program train in ballet, tap, jazz/lyrical, hip hop,
turns and leaps and stretching/strengthening. Silver level
students learn their routines on Saturday during the APT
rehearsal times.
Gold Dancers
Gold
students (8-11 yrs) train five days per week. Dancers in
this program train in ballet, tap, jazz/lyrical, hip hop,
turns and leaps and stretching/strengthening. Gold level
students learn their routines on Saturday during the APT
rehearsal times.
Platinum Dancers
Platinum students (12-18 yrs) train five days per week.
Dancers in this program train in ballet, tap, jazz/lyrical,
hip hop, turns and leaps and stretching/strengthening.
Platinum level students learn their routines on Saturday
during the APT rehearsal times.
Placement in the APT
program is by audition. Auditions
are held in August of each year. Class placement is
determined by age and ability. Because each
individual student grows at their own pace, the Director of
RMSD places each student in the program that will benefit
them the most. Some dancers may be asked to cross over age
levels due to their high level of ability and previous
training. |
